There is a potentail logic to separating the academic aspects of "design" from the technical aspects of being an architect completely, and removing the concept of course-based exemptions.

The "how" of the continuous assessment of capabilities is of fundamental importance and as a design manager in construction if see an almost continuous downward trajectory in the skills, knowledge and quite frankly the curiousity of many of the architects I work with. The attitude on larger projects that "contractors design" is a magic wand that can be waved over almost anything is of particular concern.

12. To enable institutions to innovate and to promote diversity, we think that the structure needs to change from the current approach of Parts 1, 2 and 3. What are your views on this?

There is quite a lot of remedial learning to be done on some very basic skills like specification writing, which is something almost never taught, but picked up "on the job", and it shows.

I'd be very interested to read the core competencies, and I'd like some reassurance that architects in leadership roles at the RIBA and ARB will be amongst the first to demonstrate their compliances.
